This podcast includes: Brad Layland and Pat Rhoades discussing your top 3 “To Dos” with Carol O’Leary. Carol is new on staff. She works with International North developing new leaders, ministries and camps in places where kids can’t yet go to camp. Carol’s been a Young Life volunteer for 35 years. So the top 3 things to do each day are:
1. Ask. We have not because we ask not. We need to ask people to help. We need to ask people to get involved. Ask busy people. They’re busy because they get things done – these are the people to ask.
2. Ask the Lord – and listen. Ask the Lord to bring people to mind and then act on what the Lord has said in prayer. Martin Luther said the busier his day was the longer time he spent in prayer because he was too busy not to cover everything in prayer. And Brother Lawrence was a monk who worked in the kitchen where he washed pots in prayer all day. Pray as you go along in your day – everywhere you go. Those short little prayers asking the Lord to lead you to the next person you need. Pray to be led to the kid that needs to be loved on and the people you need to help you. It saves a lot of time.
3. Connect. Listen carefully to people you connect with. Donors will say this is what I can do, this is what I love to do. Set aside your agenda and listen to where their heart is, what their passion is. In summary the 3 things to are:
1. Ask the Lord and listen.
2. Ask people and listen
3. Connect people with their passion, with each other and with what they need.
Maximize your time for ministry with kids by completing these 3 easy things to do every day.
